Home Groups

Home Groups exist for spiritual growth and multiplication through healthy relationships.

Real, authentic community can be one of the most important factors in a Christian’s spiritual growth, and Home groups are the best way to live in that type of community. The best way to help as many people as possible experience that community is through the multiplication of existing Home Groups.

Mid to Late 20s
Devo & Becca’s Home Group

We are accepting of people regardless of their opinions, backgrounds, etc. We are a pretty laid-back group of introverts. We enjoy playing board games, group video games, and occasionally going out to eat, watching a movie together, spending an evening at Lake Pleasant, camping. We are going through the Bible, reading a chapter on our own during the week so that we can discuss it when we meet. We lean on each other during hard times and celebrate together during good times. We’re devoted to helping each other grow; it’s one of the things I love about our group.

Our group is trustworthy to share our requests in love and confidentiality. Service with a smile. We enjoy doing service projects as the need arises. Our meetings are filled with fun. Not only do we enjoy our extended discussions of the previous sermon, we also like to take in a Christian movie, go out for dinner, have potlucks, and we’ve been known to schedule a game night now and then. Sometimes our adventures take us out of Phoenix!

Married with High School & Adult Children
Dave & Debbie’s Home Group

Every other Sunday at 4:30 PM in the Northwest Valley

Our home group is comprised of two age groups, 48-55 and 63-70. Our group meets every other Sunday evening from 4:30—6:30pm, and we rotate meeting at one another’s homes. We choose to take the months of December and June—August off due to busy schedules and family vacations.

Our group is made up of ministry-minded folks whose desire is to support and pray for one another through everyday life, and to continue learning and growing in the Lord through community. Our time together consists of spiritual discussion (typically surrounding the Sunday morning sermon), prayer, fellowship and always some kind of food or snacks. We sometimes switch things up with a game night, or going out for dinner.

One of our favorite projects to do as a group is to sponsor a family at Christmastime and provide for them in ways that they are unable to. This opportunity fills each of us with real joy and is a highlight for us during the Christmas season.

What does this mean for your Home Group?

  • Keep on doing what you’re doing now! We want more people in a Home Group because we think your Home Group is great. We’re not asking you to change how you operate your Home Group.

  • If you don’t have one, choose a Home Group Leader. The Home Group Leader is responsible for communicating with the Church and acting as the point of contact for potential new members.

  • Be open to new people. There are people in our church who are looking to join a Home Group. It would be great for them (and ultimately good for you) if they could plug in to your Home Group.

  • Be open to multiplying (when the time is right). Depending on the dynamics of your Home Group, when there are enough people, multiply into two groups and start the process over.

How will the church office support your Home Group?

  • We’ll be the first point of contact for people who want to join a group. If we think they’d be a good fit for your group, we’ll get them in touch with your Home Group Leader.

  • We’ll have the hard conversations for you. If it turns out that someone isn’t a good fit, let us know, and we’ll work with that person to find a group that is a better fit for them. If your group is ready to multiply, but can’t figure out how, we’ll be there to help with those conversations too.
