Out of the Blue

Did you know that over 50% of Christian women will suffer with depression at some point in their life?

That is why we are offering this educational seminar in which our keynote speaker, Marian Eberly (RN, MSW, LCSW, PhD, BCPCC), will address and discuss the general symptoms and contributing factors to depression. You will have the opportunity to choose 2 of 5 breakout sessions which include:

  • Caring For the Depressed
  • Grief After Loss
  • Life Cycles
  • Self-Care: Nutrition & Exercise
  • A Biblical Look at Depression

Marian's special interests are serving the Christian community as both a Pastor's wife and Psychotherapist specializing in Integrative therapies. She serves on a national board for the prevention of suicide and she is a Charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Marian brings a unique combination of medical knowledge along with years of experience in Christ-centered counseling.

Dr. Desiree Brotsky is an obstetrician-gynecologist in Glendale, Arizona and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Arrowhead Hospital and Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and has been in practice between 6-10 years.

Mike Sweeney is an LPC with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  He has had a biblically sound private counseling practice here in the valley for over 20 years.  He works with people of all ages and situations and particularly enjoys working with teens.

Jill Rhodes has traveled the world teaching women God’s Word through the Bible studies she has written.  Her knowledge of His Word is remarkable and her love for women is tangible. She currently resides in Arizona where she and her husband are helping with a church plant.

Annette Stanley is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of Arizona and currently serves individuals, couples and families at Northwest Christian Counseling.  Prior to this, Annette served as the Executive Director of Thrive, a Christian counseling agency in Kansas.  In these roles, she assists hurting individuals, couples and families to move from a place of brokenness to a place of joy.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Asbury College. Annette has a unique background having been raised in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, with her parents who served there as missionaries. This experience laid the foundation for a life of ministry.  Over the years, Annette has served as a counselor at a crisis pregnancy clinic, worked with teens struggling with family and school relationships, and supported individuals and families facing Alzheimer’s disease working in specialty care units, and local church ministries with women, teens, and marriage mentoring. 

Becky Brees is an AFAA and CMA certified fitness instructor, and currently teaches credited and non-credited fitness and wellness classes for all ages at Glendale Community College.
